Harvesting tips

Harvest when lettuce head begins to form and fills out. Check for bunching with a gentle squeeze and harvest immediately if bunch begins to elongate.

When grown indoors, Green Oakleaf should be fully harvested earlier (around 3 weeks of growing) to avoid bolting.

Early adapter - grown with farmstead since 5/20.

COVID 19 hit miami 3/13/20. The supply chain disruptions and the hassle of going out in public in early 2020 sent me searching for reliable vegetables and known safety precautions. I’ve grown with my lettuce grow farmstead ever since. The company has had growing pains ( no pun intended)..phone support was easy back before the product was sold on Amazon etc. No phone support anymore- but email response is reliable. The quality of the seedlings is spotty- sometimes anemic, small and yellowing upon receiving, other time stunning and strong.

I’ve bought/ advance paid for an annual package - remembering which email and the password is required. The unit itself is easy to clean.

Bees love it when I let some go to seed and flower. I have gradually increased my garden- currently growing 24 plants at a time- curious to see how well all will do now that Miami hqs gotten noticeably hotter and is now in zone 11.

Finally, a use for the garden tub!

We are in our eighties and had no use for a garden tub. If we had ever gotten in, we could never have gotten out again! But now we have a beautiful, five tier garden in the tub! A wall to wall mirror is behind it which makes it easy to check the plants on the back side! We love it! Binky and Broward Greene, Tallahassee, Florida

    Flowers in the winter

Here in Connecticut, I put dianthus and violas in my Lettuce Grow indoors. It was colorful and cheerful all winter. In the spring and summer, we grow veggies outside. It’s an all-season attraction!
